Welcome
It’s getting close to wintertime, and I can feel the chill starting to settle in night clouds. So glad you’ve taken a moment out of your day to spend it with me. Take your shoes off, kick around a while, check out my blog or my writings. Chat with me! Check out my humble photography on Instagram. Listen to my daily meditation on TikTok. Follow me on Facebook — and let’s talk about books.
I’ve been balancing a new life these days, traveling a lot, and getting used to being married–celebrated our first anniversary recently! I’ve also been working on a memoir, polishing some novel manuscripts (a historical trilogy). Books on my bedside stand include Olga Tokarczuk’s Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead (a Nobel prize winner that my PhD cohort from The Union Institute and I are reading); a collection of essays by Isabel Allende; another fantasy — this one is Son of a Witch by Gregory McGuire who brought us Wicked; and travel books about Belgium and Luxembourg, the countries my husband and I will visit next. What’s are you reading these days?
The BIGGEST news, however, is that my new novel, Analyzing the Prescotts, is coming to bookshelves in January, 2024 from Black Rose Writing Right now, the publisher is offering a 15% DISCOUNT Pre-Publication orders 🙂 Use the code PREORDER2023 and get 15% off our publishing price! I love being able to offer friends, family, and fans an early discount, and this is it!
The story is set in Raleigh and centers on a psychologist who begins treating a family disrupted by gender identity, only to find herself obsessed by them. Hailey Prescott, the father of the family, has come out as transgender and each of the family members reacts differently to the news. The challenge for the therapist is that she struggles with grief. OCD, and a major depression disorder, which complicates the already complicated situation.
Early reviews of this story include one from Poet Laureate, Jaki Shelton Green, who states: “Analyzing the Prescotts is a skillful and moving portrayal of family trauma, secrets, and unraveling grace. Dawn Reno Langley offers a profoundly tender and delicate balancing act examining the burden of family truths and the weight of witness.”
If you’d like to have “inside access” to my schedule of events to introduce Analyzing the Prescotts, as well as all the information about special book swag that will be available up to and including Launch Day (not just bookmarks, folks!), please sign up for my newsletter. I’ll guarantee it’ll be worth it!
Here’s your first chance to win some of that book swag! If you’re one of the first 4 who order the book, I’ll send you a fabulous personalized key chain! Just message me and let me know, and your name will go into the proverbial hat. Good luck!
